Taking Lives is on Oxygen

I liked it when I saw it in the theaters when it first came out. I laugh remembering Katie get all excited when Angelina Jolie popped up onscreen the first time. Katie (used to) maintain(s) that if she were a lesbian, AJ would be her girlfriend.

But I digress. Ethan Hawke is in the movie too.

It strikes me stronger the more I watch him in movies.....he's such a skeez.

Fairly talented but a skeez nevertheless. He has that kind of Matt N. vibe about him, eau de skeeziness.

But the crush I used to have on him (Ethan Hawke that is)! Not a terrible surprise, there was a time in my life where the skeezy boys were the most attractive to me.

Thank God I got past that!

I had a dream

Last night.

Not to take away from MLK. His was much more profound and global. Mine was more about me & where I've come from.

I was back working at the restaurant where I hosted when I was in high school. I couldn't tell if I was back in Dallas or here in Austin. And I think I was working a second job, it wasn't my full-time gig. Interesting thought, because although I'd love the extra income, I don't want to give away my personal time or mental space outside of my day job and fortunately, we can get by on that.

So funny enough, I was working with a lot of the people that I worked with 10 yrs ago. And the situations that I encountered and the customers were the same.

The thing that was different and cool in and of that change was me. I didn't get phased by people who were upset that they had to wait. I didn't like getting attitude but it was so much easier to blow off.

In some ways I'd still like to be able to borrow from my 'dream self'.

But what an esoteric reminder of how far I've come and how I've changed.

I guess I needed reminding, and I'll take it. It was a nice reminder.
